Representative Hubert Vo Announces $1.6M Grant for Hike and Bike Trails

(Houston) State Representative Hubert Vo is pleased to announce that The Texas Transportation Commission has approved $1.6 million in funding for hike and bike trails which will built in the International Management District.

Representative Vo, who authored legislation which created the District in 2007 states:

“…I am very happy that we’re finally able to bring additional resources into the area. These improvements will help to enhance the overall quality of life in Alief and will benefit both residents and business owners. This is exactly why I began working with local business leaders in 1999 and later fought in the legislature to form the International District. This hike and bike trail will be a wonderful compliment to the many other improvements already planned by the District”.

“A KINDNESS THAT TAUGHT ME HOW GREAT AMERICA CAN BE”

“After the fall of South Vietnam, my family fled the country by boat.  After ten long days at sea, the U.S. Navy took us to the Philippines, and after a few months, we arrived in Lubbock, Texas.  We had little more than the shirts on our backs and did not speak a word of English.  But the First United Methodist Church sponsored our family.  They took us in as if we were their own, and their kindness taught us how great American society can be.”

As we move into May, we are also moving into that second phase – decisive action. After thorough debates in the committees I serve on – the influential Public Safety, Criminal Jurisprudence, and House Administration committees, as well as my service as chairman of the Property Crimes sub-committee – I’m pleased to report that four of my bills have already been approved and are well-positioned to become law in these last four weeks.
